Judyann Bigby

South African Partners

Dr. JudyAnn Bigby is the Executive Director of South Africa Partners in the U.S. She leads the organization’s efforts to identify partners in South Africa to implement and sustain emerging solutions to health and early childhood education in South Africa. As a practicing physician, public health advocate, government employee, professor, and policy maker, Bigby has dedicated her career to advancing health care for the most vulnerable populations and strategies to achieve universal health care. Appointed by Governor Deval Patrick, she served as Secretary of Health and Human Services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 2007 to 2012. She is the former Director of the Center of Excellence in Women’s Health at Harvard Medical School. Appointed by President Barak Obama, she served as an inaugural member of the Advisory Group on Prevention, Pubic Health and Integrative Care, a committee established in the Affordable Care Act. She is a graduate of Wellesley College and Harvard Medical School and holds several honorary degrees
